I came to Kenya in 2002 to work for Kenya Community Centre for Learning- one of Kenya’s first schools for children with mild to severe learning disabilities. At this time, there were few qualified professionals who could offer diagnostics for children who are struggling to cope in mainstream schools. It was apparent then, as it is now, that there needs to be more awareness and acceptance of children with learning problems as well as solutions to help these children reach their full potential.

With a Bachelors degree in Psychology and Rhetoric from UC Berkeley, I have always had an interest in helping children who struggle to learn in conventional settings and worked as a private tutor for children with an array of learning problems, as well as a preschool teacher. I’ve recently got my Masters of Science in Education- Special Education with an International Perspective and qualified with the British Psychological Association with a Certificate of Psychometric Testing, Assessment and Access Arrangements. My goal is to work with parents, students and teachers together to identify each child’s potential and a path to achieve this. Using widely recognised tests and assessments in a structured and deliberate manner, my goal is to help each child overcome their difficulties.
